The Georgia Aquarium is determined to bring in 18 wild begulas that were recently captured, although the National Marine Fisheries Service has ruled against the decision due to issues regarding conservation.
The whales would be imported from Russia, which means they woud be removed from their family groups and bound to live a sad life in tiny enclosures. According to the US authorities, some of these whales are still nursing, which means they need to stay near their mothers.
The Fisheries Service has already denied the Aquarium’s request to import these whales. Authorities claim this would have a major impact on the wild population. However, Georgia Aquarium is determined to get its hands on those belugas and has pledged to appeal the decision.
Please sign the petition and ask the Georgia Aquarium to cease capturing belugas! These beautiful creatures deserve to be in the wild. Tell the aquarium they have no right to keep these wonderful cetaceans in their enclosure!
